Travel to your Own Backyard

Sometimes you don’t have to get on an airplane and travel 1000 miles to find a great travel destination.  Sometimes, the best destinations are in your own backyard. I have always had a love affair with Soho in New York City.  I get on the 1 train from the Upper West Side to head down to Soho and my heart starts to fly. When I step out of the subway at Prince Street, I feel like a have entered a different world. The charm and beauty of Soho reminds me of Paris or Berlin. Soho is also home to the largest concentration of cast iron facades in the world. These architectural landmarks are the vestiges of the now-defunct textile merchant industry.

However, it is within these cast iron buildings that I developed my public relations business.  My company was housed in three separate Soho locations, as we grew over a fifteen-year period. Soho, once known as “Hell’s Hundred Acres” has gone through many transformations.  Maybe that is one of the reasons that I feel so connected to it.  It reminds me of my own transformations and that I, like Soho, have the ability to change, grow and flourish while writing and enjoying the many different chapters of my life.
